San Diego, Calif. (August 19, 2004)- For the 5th annual 40 under Forty event, Jerry Swain has been selected by an independent panel of judges to be honored as a successful entrepreneur who has also committed himself to giving back to the community.

For the past 4 years the San Diego Metropolitan Magazine has honored the 40 under Forty in San Diego. Every year the Metropolitan reviews numerous local men and women who are successful, committed professionals under the age of 40. These professionals stand out due to their ongoing commitment to give back to their communities and pride themselves on being role models for other local professionals.

Jerry graduated from the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following his college years, Jerry was a highly recognized award-winning salesman and sales manager for IBM. After IBM, he relocated to beautiful San Diego, California where as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, led two area firms to much success in their business ventures.

Jerry set out to parlay his personal interests, zest for life and community involvement and founded Swain Creations, Inc. in 2001. Later in 2001, Swain Creations introduced its product, Jer’s Chocolates. In a few short years, Jerry’s company has earned tremendous recognition for its products. During 2004 Jer’s Chocolates has been featured on the Food Network on the show Food Finds, introducing the world to the uniqueness of Jer’s chocolates, Jer’s Story and his company’s commitment to giving back to the community.

From his business leadership and successes, Jerry has been asked to speak on the topics of sales, marketing and business development around the country and overseas. In addition to professional speeches, Jerry has made a commitment to volunteering his time to help guide the youth in his community. To date, he has visited over 160 classrooms to volunteer his time to speak to students (K – 12 and college) on topics such as “Benefits of staying in school”, “Goal Setting”, “Attitude” and he is always present at local career days.

Balance has been at the forefront of Jerry’s directives. Those who know Jerry will say he always has time to listen and help in whatever their needs are. Jer’s/Swain Creations, Inc. has been very proactive in giving as well. The company has collaborated with over a two-dozen non-profit organizations on a local and national level. As an example, Swain Creations executed “Operation Sweet Freedom”. In support of the families who had loved ones overseas protecting our freedom, he and his staff dedicated their time to handing out free boxes of chocolates to all families in San Diego, who showed military ID. In addition, anyone who came by and donated as little as a dollar was given a taste of Jer’s chocolates. All monies were then donated to the USO San Diego.

Jerry created a unique and fun event that benefits local non-profit organizations. Each year, Swain Creations has an extravagant chocolate party and donates 100% of net proceeds to a benefactor. This year, The 4th Annual Jer’s Chocolate Experience will be benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation. This year’s party is slated for October 9th from 7p.m. to 11p.m at the U.S. Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego. Over 300 people are expected to attend the event and it is sure to be a night of great tastes for a great cause.
